Light Years Woolloongabba is the second premises designed by Maher Design for Light Years Skin Studio.

Building on the success of the Gold Coast Studio, the design retains the signature architectural elements of the brand, whilst a fresh new palette and details give the Woolloongabba studio its own unique identity.

LYSS provides LED skin therapy. It is technically part of the beauty industry, but very different to a salon or day spa. LYSS offers an authentic, pragmatic service that caters to modern expectations for high quality, effective and efficient treatment for all genders and ages.
Our design reflects this point of difference and conveys the brands core values – quality treatment, personal interaction and genuine care; environmental and community responsibility.

Three tall product display cases next to a large picture window looking out onto the street front

The studio engages with the street via large windows and a minimal shopfront display, inviting clients and passers-by to see right into the space and be welcomed in through large double doors.

The planning creates a feeling of generosity in a compact space. The bespoke elements and a rigorous approach to layout ensures comfortable circulation and reinforces the LYSS ethos of openness and approachability.

A continuous wall of cork, cobalt blue timber, mirror and corian runs the full length of the space and playfully accommodates the various functions. Retail display, concierge, waiting, cleansing station and treatment room joinery are sculpturally integrated. The various functions are distinct, whilst the sense of space remains cohesive, fresh and calm.
